Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Konawai ("we", "our") operates Konawai mobile apps and backend services that enable account management, device linking, chat, drawing, and related features. These services include, among others, the IBEED mobile app and the uMatrix mobile app, and are designed to work with Konawai-compatible smart devices.

2. Data we collect

We collect and process only what is necessary to provide the service:

• Account data: email address, password (hashed), and verification codes for registration and login.
• Device linkage: identifiers linking your account to devices you bind (e.g. device ID, MAC) for IBEED, uMatrix, and other Konawai-compatible devices.
• Chat and content: text messages, prompts, and images you send through the app to your device; chat history and generated content (e.g. AI-generated images) stored to provide conversation history and sync.
• App usage: MQTT and API usage for real-time features; we may retain minimal logs for security and troubleshooting.

2.1 Camera and permissions

Some Konawai apps, including the uMatrix mobile app, may request access to your device's camera (android.permission.CAMERA) and other permissions only when needed for product features. For example, camera access may be used to scan QR codes, capture photos to send to your linked devices, or similar in-app functions. We do not use the camera for background recording or biometric identification, and we do not sell camera images to third parties.

3. How we use your data

We use the data above to: create and secure your account; link and manage your devices; store and sync chat history and generated content; deliver real-time features (e.g. sending commands to the device); improve service reliability and security; and comply with applicable law.

4. Storage and processing

Data is stored and processed on our servers and infrastructure (and may use cloud providers). We apply industry-standard security measures and do not sell your personal data to third parties for advertising or marketing.

5. Third-party sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We may share data only: (a) with service providers that help us operate the service (e.g. hosting, CDN), under strict confidentiality; (b) when required by law or to protect rights and safety; or (c) with your consent.

6. Retention and deletion

We retain your data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service and comply with legal obligations. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time from the app (About → Delete account). After deletion, we remove or anonymize your data in line with our retention and backup policies.

6.1 How to delete your account and data

From within the app: open the Konawai app (for example, the uMatrix or IBEED mobile app), go to About → Delete account, and follow the on-screen instructions to confirm deletion. This sends a request to permanently delete your Konawai account and associated data.

By contacting support: if you cannot access the app, email our support team at [email protected] from the email address associated with your account and include "Account deletion request" in the subject line. We will verify your identity and process the deletion.

Data that will be deleted: when we process an account deletion request, we delete or anonymize your account profile (email and hashed password), device linkage information (such as IDs of devices you have bound), and your chat history and generated content that is stored on our servers, subject to the backup and retention period below.

Data that may be kept for a limited period: for security, fraud prevention, and legal compliance, we may retain minimal server logs and encrypted backups that could incidentally contain some of your data for a limited retention period (typically up to 90 days, or longer if required by law) before they are automatically overwritten or fully anonymized.

7. Security

We use encryption in transit (e.g. HTTPS, secure MQTT), secure storage of credentials, and access controls to protect your data. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure.

8. Children

Our services are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and, for material changes, we will notify you via the app or email where appropriate. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

Terms of Service

1. Acceptance

By creating an account or using Konawai apps (including the IBEED or uMatrix mobile apps) and related services, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. Use of the service

You agree to use the service only in accordance with applicable laws and these terms. You must not use the service to harm others, infringe rights, or abuse the systems. You are responsible for all activity under your account and for keeping your credentials secure.

3. Service "as is"

We provide the service "as is" and "as available." We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue features with reasonable notice where practicable.

4. Intellectual property

The app, website, and our content (including logos and design) are owned by Konawai or our licensors. You may not copy, modify, or distribute our materials without permission.

5. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Konawai and its affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, if any.

6. Termination

You may stop using the service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these terms or for other legitimate reasons, with notice where required by law.
